Volunteers are here!

Greetings from Uganda! I hope things are well with everyone. We have been very busy around here. Last Friday Katie picked up to two volunteers from the airport. Marianna is a nurse and Megan works in children’s ministry. We are very excited to have them here!

Another bit of exciting news is that GSM has hired a young man named Ruhinda Moses to work with us. In everything we do here our goal is to work ourselves out of a job. We do not want to create dependency. Our goal is to train Moses to manage the Know.Think.Act. objectives and also to learn the day to day operations. He is great young man and we are very happy to have him on board.

Yesterday we hosted our first of hopefully four HIV/AIDS testing outreaches. It is very important for everyone here be tested. There are many people who do not want to know if they are positive or not, which is very dangerous to themselves, their spouse or future spouse, as well as their children. Thankfully with only one days notice we had 93 people come to be tested which is a fantastic turnout. The sad reality in doing these tests is that some people will be positive. Out of those tested 9 are HIV positive. Our desire is that the community, and especially the body of Christ, will reach out to these individuals and assist them in whatever ways they can.

Our team, which consists of three BHTTF staff members, Moses and Marianna, is currently hosting another clinic in a neighboring village called Bwenzi. We will post updates on this one later in the week. Katie and Megan are in Ft. Portal Gathering items for a Vacation Bible School they are hosting at Home Again. This program will start tomorrow.

I am heading to Entebbe this weekend to pick up another volunteer. He will be filming a lot of video footage for upcoming videos/promos. Things are happening here and it’s exciting!
